Each page features an icon and offers, in easy-to-understand words, information about the icon and who it depicts.Throughout the book, Skinas teaches the reader other important things, as well: why Orthodox Christians have icons in their homes and churches ("to remind us that Jesus is nearby"); how icons are treated ("we kiss them because it's our way of saying 'I love you' to God"); and to whom worship is directed through the icons ("icons don't call out for us to worship them - they're signs that point the way to God, the only one we worship"). This gem of a book is useful for introducing young Orthodox Christian children to the icons that they see all around them.
